The creator of this 1970s public art piece hoped it would be LA’s Eiffel Tower. Instead, the world’s first “polyphonoptic” tower has mostly sat dormant, confusing passersby, for decades. Here’s the story about one of LA’s most misunderstood landmarks. Learn more about the Triforium on ARTBOUND at the link in our bio.

“Sometimes your house feels like a store and your life feels like a job.” Few sentences have hit us as hard as this line from YACHT’s recent video announcing their new album, “New Release,” with Metalabel. Creative work has been entirely subsumed by hyper-capitalism, with artists expected to perform as perfect economic actors in service of the platforms and interests of larger global finance that profits from them. What are we as artists to do about it? The perspective of YACHT’s Claire L. Evans

We’ve been getting emails and messages for years asking for us to put the 2007 album “I Believe In You. Your Magic is Real” back on streaming. The truth is that record is so old we didn’t have a decent image file of the artwork so we couldn’t submit it to distributors! Thankfully we had a scuffed old LP lying around and our dear friend @jjstratford was able to take a photograph of it for us. So as of today, it’s back! Listen to it anywhere albums stream, or hey—it’s Bandcamp Friday! Grab it on B

I started dying my hair black out of the box just before I left for college, mostly because I wanted to be cool enough for gatekeeper scene kid websites like MakeoutClub and Lipstick & Cigarettes, which I lurked constantly. The look then was white belts, black hair, Parliament Lights, and tiny hoodies. I spray-painted mine with an outline of an octopus because I was really into sea creatures and tragic polar explorers. I wore sneakers without socks and I remember a boyfriend telling me, with mor

Portrait of a high school drop-out, 1996. I was living off 82nd, in Portland, with my older brother Joel, hiding from “truancy officers” while watching Absolutely Fabulous re-runs on Comedy Central all day. At night my brother and I would play shows with our pop-punk duo. I was too young to hang out in the 21+ venues so I had to wait outside until it was time to play. My brother bleached my hair right out of the box and it always turned orange. ♫ Used to be manic, now I just panic
